Five Tips for Choosing the Perfect Prom Dres
Research - have a look on different dress websites, just to see what is available, and read up information about what will suit your body shape. Have a look in magazines too, in order to keep you in touch with what is in style.
Colors - if you want to look stunning make sure you work out what colours will work with your complexion. For instance, girls with pale skin, blue eyes and golden hair should avoid wearing pastel colours, and choose strong earthy tones like red or green.
Plan Ahead - make sure that you go into several shops on your shopping day, and make sure that you start several months before hand. It may take you a while to find the perfect dress, so don’t expect it to be the first one you try on. It may also be a good idea to take pictures of you in each gown so that you can remember what you looked like in each one.
Fit, Style & Color - one of the most important things to consider when trying on a dress is the fit. Even if the dress is the perfect style and colour, you will not have a good evening in a dress that you have to pull up, or hike down all the time.
Lingerie - when you do go out shopping for your dress, always take with you suitable underwear, so it is easier to see the dress as it might appear on prom night. You may also want to think about the make-up you are wearing, keep it minimal, as you don’t want to ruin any of the dresses you try on, especially if they are tight fitting.
Shop online - if you are thinking about buying a dress online or ordering from a catalogue, make sure that you do this much further in advance. These can often have a different fit than you might have imagined, and very frequently they are made of different fabric, or are a slightly different colour than they seem to be in their photos. It will take longer to send things back and re-order than you think, and you don’t want to be relying on postal services to deliver you a dress just the day before prom. It is definitely worth looking online though, as there are often more unique and more stylish dresses to be found.
Accessorize! - when you have found the perfect dress for you, you can start to think about shoes, hairstyles and accessories. Do try and wait to choose these until you have found the dress, because your dress will help you to decide these things. For example, if you chose a classic turquoise 50’s style halter gown, it would not look that great with a sleek, straightened hairstyle, funky red flats and a navy faux-fur shrug; it would look amazing with a curled updo with a tiara, turquoise peeptoe heels and a simple diamante necklace to match your headwear.
